A gruesome exhibit….

When the dead body of a woman is found on public display, the murder scene bears all the hallmarks of a famous work of art. DI Ian Drake knows he is dealing with a very creative and intelligent killer – one who enjoys having their work showcased for all to see.

A gallery of death….

As more murders take place, each copying a famous work of art, Drake faces a murderer who always seems to be one step ahead. And when one of the suspects is revealed to be his own brother, the pressure mounts…this case just got very personal.

The portrait of a killer.

The art world is small, but the murderer’s ego is too big to hide forever. Drake knows he is getting closer to unmasking the culprit, but can he stop the killer before their grand finale – and a very public murder?

Another Fantastic read from Stephen Puleston I am reading the Inspector Drake series in order and I have enjoyed them all but this one is a cracker! I find Drake a compelling character with his quirks and OCD, and I love the way Stephen writes female characters, just as strong and intuitive but respecting rank. May have to visit North Wales to see some of the places that are so beautifully described. Thoroughly recommend this series to those who like police procedural novels.

Really enjoyed reading this Really enjoyed reading this. The main investigation storyline was unusual and riveting. The pool of suspects stayed wide open until the climax at the very end. Personally I did feel this story was missing something when compared to the earlier parts of the series as it spent less time on the private lives of the characters. However this doesn’t take anything away from the main story, which is well written and worth a read whether you have read the earlier stories or not. Already looking forward…

Enthralling read I have now read several Inspector Drake novels which I have found to be cleverly constructed but at times a little disjointed. The idiosyncrasies and “Welshness” of Drake can become a little irritating but of course are the make-up of the character.
