Lovely and detailed illustrations Ok, this may not be to most practical guidebook to bring with you on a trip: it weights a lot, and compared to “classic” guidebooks such as Lonely Planet or Rough guides has way less down-to-earth practical information. However, I think this is a different kind of guidebook and it does its job very well: the illustrations and photos are just beautiful, and the background information given in words+illustrations/photos (for example: different types of clothes, architectural styles, etc)…

An Excellent Guide Istanbul keeps changing and a guide needs to change to keep up with it. The Dorling-Kindersley series is a reliable one and this is an excellent guidebook. Anyone who has been before will look up to see what it says about “favourite” things, and what the DK guide says pretty much matches my memory. Thee are a few things left out, but overall, this is probably the best all-round guide for anyone to use in a short visit to the city.

Good guide book Bought this prior to a visit to Istanbul. The book gives good info and is easy to navigate. The map is useful and I found it to be a useful guide while travelling around Istanbul
