Excellent for the Sightseer Item reviewed: 2014 editionThis is more illustrated than conventional guidebooks such as Lonely Planet. With those guidebooks, when you arrive at a major sight, you have to read or reread an essay of say five hundred words, and at the end may still be confused as to where exactly things are. DK’s brilliant innovation is that instead they provide a labelled diagram, a bit like an aerial photograph, that orients you immediately and shows you where to go for the most interesting…

Lots of good advice and detail Full of good tips and tricks and well laid out with pictures and details of most areas. I particularly like the fact that it gives you links to websites for attractions and hotels etc. Haven’t put it to the test yet by visiting Sri Lanka but it is proving very useful in the planning stages of our trip. Overall a nice guide with a lot of good advice and detail

You can’t beat DK Eyewitness Guides I don’t bother buying any other travel guides than DK Eyewitness ones these days. They are excellent – just the right about of details, facts, helpful information and a lot of lovely photos and illustrations. They often have good ideas of things to do and visit which are not always part of the main tourist trail but are always interesting and I appreciate knowing about them from DK.
