Very useful We purchased this recently updated Lonely Planet guide before our holiday in Crete this summer. The book was a great help during planning our trip, with useful tips on where to stay and what sights to visit. When in Crete, we tended to rely on our Lonely Planet guide for choosing restaurants and we were very happy that we have done so. Great guide, up to expectations for Lonely Planet publications, but too out of date now Like all Lonely Planet guides, this is a very complete, in-depth work which covers all aspects of this wonderful island. However it dates back to 2010 so some places and restaurants which were recommended at that time, have obviously surfed the Lonely Planet wave but have now become lackadaisical. Apparently a new issue is forthcoming in 2020, so we hope that the LP team have gone back there, done their work and changed their recommendations.
With a nice historical overview With a nice historical overview, this book is a great partner for travelling in Crete. We planned most of our roadtrip according to its recommendations and we do not regret it. From nice accommodation tips that take you away from the crowded Crete, to delicious food places, I recommend this book for your travels!
