Book for those who wish to study the history of the region but with hardly any pictures Preparing for a short 4 day holiday in Bologna and maybe Ferrara and Modena, I bought this book expecting to see lots of colour pictures of the region, particularly works museums and colour maps. Instead, I was overwhelmed to find that the book was inundated by text. I travel with light baggage and the book is too heavy to carry. The text in the book is very comprehensive and full of information and will be ideal for other people but, in this occasion, not for me.
Very interesting More insightful than the usual round of guides it has a lot of interesting information on architecture and history. The only recommendations are spot on and the writing is clear and engaging.
