So much better for not being about the beautiful people I thought this book was a rollicking good read because both hero and heroine are flawed. The hero has trouble with commitment because his family died when he was a teenager. The heroine is feisty but alas, she is plain, thin and with flyaway red hair and freckles. A little bit different To me historical romances are light reading where you can imagine life back in time. All have a lot in common. This one was definitely different. Usual romance with a twist but also a proper police mystery. Unusually the heroine has a conscience about the poor people and would rather spend money on children in an orphanage than fine ball gowns. The hero is a wealthy lord who spend his money on fine clothes, drinking and betting.. to find out how they get together you must read this book.
