A small town murder. A big city detective.

DI Ruth Hunter’s dream of escaping the murderous streets of South London and settling in the rural peace of Snowdonia has come true – until a brutal killing turns it into her worst nightmare.

Detective Inspector Ruth Hunter lives with the pain of her partner’s mysterious and unsolved disappearance. About to hit fifty, the veteran police officer trades in the crime-ridden streets of London for a more peaceful life in rural North Wales. But Ruth has barely settled into her new position in North Wales Police, when the body of a brutally murdered woman is discovered…with strange symbols carved into her skin. Teaming up with an obstinate deputy, Ruth struggles to eliminate anyone from a long line of suspects. When another slain victim is discovered with the same cryptic markings, she’s forced to re-think the investigation.

Has Ruth got what it takes to solve the case before the murderer attacks again?

The Snowdonia Killings is the first book in the DI Ruth Hunter Crime Thriller series and set against the majestic backdrop of Snowdonia, a timeless land of Arthurian legend, folklore and myth. If you like dark police procedurals, psychologically complex characters, and shocking twists, then you’ll love Simon McCleave’s pulse-pounding debut novel.

A good page turner Thougherly enjoyed the book moves along quickly and easy to follow characters the main two are a good pair together. The storyline was excellent it’s fast paced and the plot thickens with every chapter. There was no guessing the culprit which is disclosed and a surprise who done it.This is the first book I’ve read of this author but i will be reading more hoping they’ll be as good as this one

Lesbians, unwed pregnancy, alcoholics, missing person, racial tension, heavy smoking, bullying boss, historic mythology, Asian Muslims, autism, suicide, drowning, car chase – the only missing thing was a…

Confusing! I am glad that this was free on kindle. As previous reviews have commented it was not proof read well – lots of errors which made it hard to read. Couldn’t really take to any of the characters – especially Nick the alcoholic. Unrealistic that no-one else would have noticed his drink problem. The two murdered characters seemed unpleasant and they basically tried to pin the murders on anyone in the book who wasn’t a policeman. Absolutely no empathy from any of the characters for the cleared…
