A cumbersome tale I got this for my kindle as I have an interest in Greece but I only got as far as Calais on this cumbersome tale of a couple permanently relocating to Parga, as I could bear no more of the authors incessant ramblings. Although their decision to move abroad was a courageous one, this is where the excitement ends and as a reader it is painfully boring to read about the most ordinary of incidents – interactions with the estate agents, visits to the dump, the bank, to Manchester to pick the wife…
Glad I stuck with it I came close to deleting this book in the early stages because, as other have stated, it is a little tedious and boring to start with. However I stuck with it and found it to be quite interesting once they had arrived in Greece. Sure, there are better books of this type around but this is far from the worst and I am sure readers who have been to this area of Greece will enjoy reading it.
Parga could we move? Downloaded this book because we love Parga and we wondered how people of a similar age and background would move home to another country . Enjoyed reading the book which confirmed our view of Parga. I doubt we would have the courage or freedom to make such a move.
