They call me jaded, so what? It’s hard to believe in unicorns and happily ever afters when fate is a bitch I don’t believe in. Fated mates? Give me a break. You know what else I don’t believe in? Clocks. Unfortunately the other alphas in the pack do and mine’s tictocking out. I made a promise to find a mate and I don’t break promises, but it’s hard to make a choice when ‘for life’ sounds like a death sentence.

Thank god for Jack, he keeps me sane. I’d probably go feral without him. He’s the calm to the crazy that comes with being an alpha. I don’t want things with him to change but they will when he finds out I’ve got to take a mate, and fast. Jack’s really not going to like this. —Soren

I know I’m different. I’m not like the others in the pack—I’m not smart, I’m not sharp, I’m not normal. But that’s okay, it has been since Soren found me and gave me a home. Soren doesn’t think I’m broken, he just sees me as me. And he makes me happy. Very happy.

But now it looks like that happiness is going to be taken away by someone else and I’m not going to let that happen. This is the first time I’ve heard about Soren needing to take a mate but that doesn’t matter. I’m going to do everything I can to keep Soren by my side. Even if he can’t see just yet that being by my side is where he belongs. —Jack

A jaded alpha and a broken shifter. Sometimes fate’s dictate isn’t as powerful as having the chance to choose. But can they both make the right choice?
