Fleeing a mundane life as a junior partner in the family tea business, Michael McLean heads to Scotland in the hope that the dramatic scenery of the Highlands and Islands will provide the perfect solitude in which to pursue his new career as a writer. After saving the life of the local laird of Dunore, McLean is rewarded with a plot of moorland on which to build his cabin and begin his new life. But as he gets to know the people who live and work in this remote corner of Scotland, McLean soon finds that even in this apparently idyllic spot, tensions can run high and emotions can errupt as violently as any Highland storm – and with equally deadly results…

Originally published in 1934 this is a haunting murder mystery set in the beautiful and wild scenery of the western highlands of Scotland. Murder Up the Glen, a Highland ghost story by the same author and featuring some of the same characters, is also available from Black Heath Editions.
