Not bad, but about 20 covers should be “sexed up.” Penguin “cheated” as 6 cards are not of much interest, they are reproductions of 30s/40s covers that basically have a picture of The Penguin and the story title on them. Why have them? Same with the cover for Fred Hoyle’s “The Black Cloud” and the Collection “The Reefs of Space” where money was not found behind the sofa to commission an artist. “1984” and “Brave New World” and a lot of Wyndham & Bradbury has been duly included, even though the covers are not necessarily of interest. If you love your row of orange-spined, Penguins or your blue-spined Pelicans, then you’ll ‘get’ this selection.Penguin paperbacks are synonymous with intelligent design.In the 60’s and 70’s, the great and ghastly vogue for science-fiction writing allowed Penguin to design some distinctive covers. useless but fun A box of interesting sci fi book covers. Lot of variety, and some of them prompted me to order the books themselves. Not sure what to do with these cards though. They just sit on the shelf.
