Guilty… until proven innocent

Deliver us from Evil

Brick:

When a teenager is the victim of an unprovoked attack while walking his dog, a murder investigation begins. A cruel twist of fate makes his innocent family the targets of a vicious campaign of terror.

As the detectives of Liverpool’s Major Investigation Team try to contain the violence, several key members of an organised crime family begin to topple, causing shockwaves across the world.

Why was the teenager attacked?

And will the villains be brought to justice?

Shadows:

Suicide. Drugs. Murder.

DI Braddick is put on the case when a hijacked drug deal has resulted in murder and an eyewitness goes missing. When victims are discovered strung up from the rafters of an abandoned fish factory, on the Anglesey coastline, the police are baffled as to what went on. A deserted trawler found at the scene helps Braddick put the pieces together.

Could this be the work of a notorious Russian crime family?

When an undercover officer goes missing everything points to an informer for the family and it is clear they will stop at nothing to the silence the leak and have their revenge.

Guilty…

Following a storm, a body is washed up on a beach, intricately wrapped in wire mesh.

DS Marcus Braddick is struck by the similarities to a triple murder case from 7 years before – A case that eluded his predecessor, Alec Ramsay.

Across the city, a teacher is accused online by a Predator hunting group. As his life unravels, a killer stalks the hunters.

Braddick and Ramsay have to work out how the two worlds are entwined and discover who are the innocent and who are the guilty before it’s too late…

The hunt is on and it’s never been so deadly…

Detective Braddick is summoned to a horrendous crime scene, where it appears a double murder has taken place. The victims’ bodies are missing and the police have no clue as to their identities or who killed them.

As the investigation snowballs, the potential body count rises and the Major Investigation Team have little to go on until DNA evidence is examined.

There appears to be no motive for the dreadful murders until an ancient script is found daubed on the walls of a nearby property.

As the clues are unravelled, Braddick and his team realise they are dealing with something they have never faced before. Because this time they’re tracking evil itself…

Very Good All three run along at a good pace. Very gritty and violent, but why gloss over reality. Enjoyed them all, as I have all his books, and read all three in this series quicker than I’ve ever read three books. But hey Conrad, us Liverpudlians don’t have to ‘zip up our coats against the biting wind and rain’ every time we step outside you know.

Too gruesome for me. Gave up on the second book. To bloodthirsty for me, I read the first one which seemed to drag on with more and more gruesome deaths, then the end just suddenly happened and all was right with the world! Started the second and found it was just more of the first so I gave up at that point.

Nail biting. First time with this author and hoping the other two books are as thrilling. Only little niiggle I do have is how the baddies knew exactly where everyone was little too easy. Also seem to to take ages in the book for the coppers to get involved but enjoyed it all the same.
